Poland vs Argentina - 2022 World Cup Betting Guide

Robert Lewandowski's Poland will face Lionel Messi's Argentina in the final group game for both teams. The match will be held on the 30th of November, in Stadium 974 in Doha.

This thrilling encounter will be a meeting between two of the best forwards in the world. Lionel Messi will have the edge, as Argentina have lots of world class players in their team, and they will be the favourites to win the group. However, Poland will try to challenge Argentina with their own players and tactics, and though they do not have the same squad depth, they will not be an easy opponent for Argentina.

Poland Team Info – Massive Pressure on Lewandowski

Whilst Poland have never won any major international trophies, they have come in third in two World Cups: in 1978 and 1982. The team currently sits in 26th in the football world rankings, and they look focused ahead of the World Cup. Poland failed to qualify for the competition during the 90s, and then from the 2000s, they only qualified for 3 World Cups, in 2002, 2006, and 2018. For players such as Robert Lewandowski, Kamil Glik, Piotr Zielinski, and Wojciech Szczesny, this is their second World Cup appearance. Lukasz Fabianski is the only player in the Polish side to have competed in 2 World Cups prior to 2022.

Fabianszki plays in goal, currently for West Ham United, and he is the second choice goalkeeper behind Wojciech Szczesny. Kamil Glik will lead the defence, and there are plenty of experienced defensive players that manager Czeslaw Michniewicz can play with him. These include Bartosz Bereszynski, Tomasz Kedziora, Arkadiusz Reca, Matty Cash, and Jan Bednarek. Piotr Zielinski is perhaps the most well known Polish midfielder, but they also have other great options in Grzegorz Krychowiak, Karol Linetty, Kamil Grosicki, and Jakub Moder. Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in football today, and he plays as Poland's main forward. With 76 goals from 132 caps, he is not only Poland's top goalscorer but also their best capped player. Other Polish strikers include Arkadiusz Milik, Karol Swiderski, Krzysztof Piatek, and the up and coming Adam Buksa, who scored all his 5 goals in the World Cup qualification games.

Argentina Team Info – Massive Pressure on Messi

Argentina, the nation that has produced two of the greatest football legends in Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi, will play in Group C in the World Cup. The team has two stars on their badge, referencing their two World Cup titles that came in 1978 and 1986. In 1986, Maradona became one of the most well known footballers after inspiring Argentina's football team to their second World Cup title. He would bring Argentina to the final once again in 1990, where they faced Germany for the second time in a row, but it was not to be. Germany beat Argentina in the final of 1990, and then history repeated itself 24 years later. Lionel Messi brought Argentina to the World Cup final where they played against Germany, but a late extra time goal sealed the game, and Argentina became runners up.

After a shock exit in the round of 16 in the last World Cup, Argentina will hope that this is their year. It may well be the last time football fans get to see Lionel Messi in the World Cup. Their current team includes great goalkeeping options in Franco Armani and Emiliano Martinez. In defence, they have quality players such as Nicolas Otamendi, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico, German Pezella, and Marcos Acuna. Leandro Paredes, Rodrigo De Paul, Alexis Mac Allister, Giovani Lo Celso, and Angel Di Maria play in the Argentine midfield. In attack, they have players such as Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Angel Correa, and of course, Lionel Messi.

They have met twice in the World Cup, with Poland beating Argentina in 1974, and Argentina beating Poland in 1978. Most recently, Poland beat Argentina in 2011, in an international friendly.

Poland vs Argentina Betting Preview

There will be numerous bets on this game that may interest you. For a start, you can find bets on players such as Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Lautaro Martinez, and more. You can also find bets on the result of the game, how many goals may be scored, and a lot more.

Asian Handicaps

If you do not fancy the odds on Argentina beating Poland you may choose to give them a handicap, which they will need to overcome for you to win your bet. Alternatively, you can select giving a favourable handicap to Poland, which will shorten their betting odds but also have a better chance of winning as they will only need to not lose by a margin greater than the handicap. There are several types of handicaps and they all have slightly different requirements.

If you bet on Argentina to win the match with a handicap of -2.5 then they will need to beat Poland by at least 3 goals or more for you to win your bet. If you bet on Argentina and apply a handicap of -2 then they will need to end the game 3 goals ahead of Poland for you to receive your winnings, but if they only manage to finish 2 goals ahead of Poland then the bet will be cancelled and you will receive your money back.

You can also set a handicap of -2.25 on Argentina, which will put half your money on a handicap of -2 and the other half on a handicap of -2.5 That way, if Argentina fulfils both criteria and scores 3 more than Poland, you will win your bet. If they only end the match 2 goals in front of Poland, then you will receive half your money back.

Over/Under Total Goals

You can bet on how many goals Argentina and Poland will score during their group game with the total goals bet. To place a bet, you will need to pick one of the betting lines and then choose whether the game will end with over the number of goals defined by the line, or under.

Player Goals

There will be bets on which players will score during the match between Poland and Argentina. You can take a look at the odds on Messi to score, Lewandowski to score, Lautaro Martinez to score, and any other players in the starting lineup. There will also be bets on whether these players will score the first goal of the game or the last goal of the game.

Many More Betting Opportunities

Your options do not stop with the selections you have read about here, as there are still masses of bets at your disposal. Some examples of bets that may interest you are: Poland to score in both halves, Argentina to take the lead after 15 minutes. Argentina to win the first half, Poland to keep a clean sheet, Argentina to score 3 or more goals, Argentina to reverse the result, either team to score in the first 5 minutes, both teams to score, and all the other reverse variations of these bets.

Another category of bets that you may wish to take a look at are the match combos. These are combinations of the bets listed above with matchbets, double chance bets, total goals bets, and more.
