Cameroon vs Serbia - 2022 World Cup Betting Guide

Cameroon will play against Serbia in the second round of matches in Group G. The two teams will play against each other in the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, on the 28th of November.

For Serbia, this match will be a perfect opportunity to pick up some points. Not only is Cameroon the lowest ranking team in the group, but Serbia will play Brazil in their previous match, which means that they will have likely not won any points or maybe won 1. For Cameroon, they will enter the match with a completely different mindset. They played against Switzerland in the first match, and if they picked up any points there, then they will have to pick up points in this match, as the following match will be against Brazil.

Cameroon Team Info – Can the Lions Be Dominated?

The Cameroon national football team, locally dubbed the Indomitable Lions, qualified for the World Cup after they beat Algeria in the third round of the CAF qualifiers. They received a bye for the first round, and then in the second round they played against Ivory Coast, Mozambique and Malawi. Here Cameroon won 5 of their 6 games, and lost only once. They scored 12 goals and conceded 3. Their forwards Vincent Aboubakar, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Christian Bassogog, and Karl Toko Ekambi all scored 2 goals, and so did their centre back Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui. In the third round, Cameroon lost the first leg to Algeria, but in the second leg they won 2-1 after extra time. After the game went to extra time, Algeria scored in the 118th minute, but Cameroon managed to turn the tables with a late goal in the 124th minute.

Vincent Aboubakar may be their current top goal scorer, with 33 goals from 87 games, but the team relies on many different players to score. Cameroon is the country in which Samuel Eto'o played, and whilst then their strategy may have depended on an out and out goal scorer, the current team does not play like that. Strikers Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Christian Bassogog, Clinton N'Jie, and Karl Toko Ekambi, have all scored numerous times for their country, providing Cameroon with many scoring options. They have some key midfielders and defenders too, such as Pierre Kunde, Martin Hongla, Jean Onana, and in defence Nicolas Nkoulou, Collins Fai, and Nouhou Tolo. Andre Onana is Cameroon's first choice goalkeeper, and he also plays for Inter Milan.

Serbia Team Info – A Dangerous Proposition

For Serbia, the qualification route to the World Cup went right up until the final minute of the last game. They were placed into UEFA Group A, alongside the national teams of Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, the Republic of Ireland, and Portugal. Portugal were the favourites to win the group and secure automatic qualification, but Serbia put up an excellent fight. Going into their last game, they were level on points with Portugal and were behind on goal difference. If Serbia drew or lost the game, they would have to play in the playoffs, but if they could secure a win, then they would take first place in the group. Portugal took an early lead, but Serbia managed to equalise within the first half. The game continued at 1-1 right until the 90th minute, when Aleksander Mitrovic scored for Serbia, and they overtook Portugal.

Mitrovic, who is 28 years old, is Serbia's top goal scorer, having 46 goals from 74 appearances. He was crucial for Fulham in the 2021 season, when he scored 45 goals in the English Championship to help them achieve promotion. Next to him, there are other striking options in Luka Jovic and Dusan Vlahovic, both of whom play in the Serie A. In midfield, they have their captain Dusan Tadic, as well as many talented players such as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Mark Grujic, Filip Kostic, and Nemanja Gudelj, to mention a few. In defence, they have Stefan Mitrovic, Strahinja Pavlovic, Nikola Milenkovic and Milos Veljkovic, amongst the many options. Their main goalkeeper is Marko Dmitrovic, who plays in La Liga for Sevilla.

Cameroon vs Serbia Head-to-head

Cameroon have only played against Serbia once, in a 2010 friendly game. Serbia won the match 4-3.

Cameroon vs Serbia Betting Preview

This match has a lot of promise, with two teams that play with quite different tactics. Serbia relies heavily on their key man, Mitrovic, to score their goals, and this is effective as he is an extremely prolific goal scorer. Cameroon, on the other hand, have a main striker in Vincent Aboubakar, but in the qualifiers their goals came from many players. This match has the potential to be a goal fest, and there are plenty of bets you can make on how many goals there will be, who will score them, when they will be scored, and more.

Double Chance

Double chance is a bet that allows you to pick two of the possible three outcomes in a match, and if the match ends in one of the two chosen results, you will win. It may not come with long odds but it is a great insurance for bettors who are hesitant to pick one outcome. You can bet on Cameroon to win or the game to end in a tie, Serbia to win or the game to end in a tie, or either of the teams to win the match.

Asian Handicaps

Handicap betting is a way that you can increase the odds on a team to win. You can pick one of the numerous negative numbers offered, and this will be subtracted from the score of your chosen team - but they should still win the match. You can also find positive handicaps that are added to a team’s score at the end of the match, which do make betting on them safer, but also come with shorter odds.

If you pick Serbia to beat Cameroon and apply a handicap of -1.5 then you will need Serbia to win the match by 2 goals or more. If you apply a handicap of -1 then you will also need Serbia to win by 2, but if they only win by 1 goal then the scores will be level and you will receive your money back.

A handicap of -1.25 will split your stake and put half of it on a handicap of -1.5 and the other on a handicap of -1. If Serbia wins the match by 2 or more goals then the conditions for both halves of your bet will be met and you will receive your winnings. If Serbia only wins by 1 goal then the -1.5 half of your bet will lose but the -1 half of your bet will draw, so you will receive half your stake back.

Over/Under Total Goals

Total goals are simply bets on how many goals you think will be scored in a match. The bet uses the over/under format, meaning you can bet over or under one of the betting lines. In an example, if you pick a line of 3.5 and bet over, then you will need Cameroon and Serbia to score a combined 4 or more goals. If you bet under the line then you will need Cameroon and Serbia to score a combined 3 goals or fewer.

And Many More

You will find that we offer many more markets than just the ones listed here. Bets such as Cameroon to win either half, Serbia to win the first half, either team to score in the first 5 minutes, Serbia to score over 3.5 goals, Serbia to win by a margin of 4, Cameroon to keep a clean sheet, Aleksander Mitrovic to score the opening goal, are just a few of the markets that we offer in our selection.

When you bet on the World Cup, always make sure that you are not going outside your budget. There are many selections and many games that you can bet on, so it is important to keep track of how much you spend. If you need some advice on how to gamble responsibly, you can refer to gambleaware.co.uk
